we are currently splurging on pizza and frozen yogart at the loop in st. louis! there is a cafe here called meshuggah. corey took a picture for zack and stevie.

we spent the last two nights at land between the lakes adjusting to our new lifestyle... figuring out the best way to pack the car, starting fires (corey has taken on this task for the time being), and navigating the gps (yes keith, you were right... we NEED it, and thank you charles for the amazing gift).

we camped across from a family that was clearly from the south... there were five young boys and the second youngest was named brother. that was his actual name. their parents spent the majority of the trip screaming rule after rule to the kids across the entire campground. i think at one point i realized i had been staring at them for several minutes and i looked at corey and he was doing the same.

land between the lakes is actually a national forest... and it was literally a strip of land in between kentucky and barkley lake. at one point, we almost ran out of gas trying to get from one side to the other. we got to see a bison range! that was cool. the lake was kind of mucky and we did not find a place to swim. boo.

i think we are both still feeling like we are on vacation (it has only been three days) and we are so excited about everything we do. we keep getting "new city" face (btw we have been calling everything we get excited about "new ___" face thanks to stevie). missouri is actually quite beautiful... really green and nice right outside of the city.

we have to get back to the campsite for the night, and then we will be heading out to the kansas city area tomorrow! two more nights and we will be heading to colorado!!!!! i will get the party pics and more up as soon as we have time.

love all you guys... and remember we don't have text messaging so call us!!!

  2. Hope you guys are having an awesome time...I'm sure you are. Funny story: This morning we found a baby squirrel in Ziyad's fireplace. It was exhausted and dehydrated. She didn't even try to run when we picked her up. We cleaned out an almost empty eye drop bottle, gave her some water, and wrapped her in a warm dish rag. Didn't really know what to do so we called a wild life rescue place outside of town. They told us to see if we could find a nest somewhere nearby. When we went outside to look, that weird looking grey cat was guarding the door (probably heard the squirrel in here all morning). We didn't see anything and there wasn't a squirrel in sight, so we just decided to take her to the animal rescue place. They were happy to take her and said she was probably an orphan. We donated $20 to the park, and soon found out that it was a really cool place to hike. We'll have to go back when we have more time. Anyway, just a bit about what's going on here. Thanks for keeping us all up to date on you guys. Good luck and safe travels!! <3

  3. Hahaha! I'm so excited about your blogs, you two! I new you studied journalism and there is nothing I love more than good writing. I was hoping you would have a good witty style about your writing and i was right! I had bust up laughing about the family with the five kids. I can just see the look on yours and corey's face, lol! Can't wait to read more. Hmmm ... kind of got me inspired to post some of my old stuff on here too.
Be safe you two! Miss you!
